Discover More About Massimo Bottura

1986, Massimo Bottura embarked on his remarkable journey as a restaurant owner by acquiring Trattoria del Campazzo, a charming eatery nestled on the outskirts of his beloved hometown, Modena. Bottura began to lay the foundation for his future success as a visionary chef and culinary maestro.

Drawing inspiration from the culinary skills of his mother and grandmother, he embarked on a journey that blended his classical French training, acquired under the guidance of Chef Georges Coigny, with the rich heritage of Emilia Romagna's traditional cuisine.

Dedicating eight years to honing his craft, he bravely left Campazzo to join forces with the renowned Alain Ducasse at Louis XV in Montecarlo. This pivotal mentorship greatly influenced the Italian chef, leading to his return to Modena in 1995 to establish Osteria Francescana.

Bottura explored Italian regional cuisine, fearlessly blending contemporary cooking techniques. His musings on philosophy, history, and art harmoniously coexisted with a deep appreciation for local ingredients and simple recipes.
