House of Tides

Proud owner and head chef Kenny Atkinson’s Quayside runs this gastronomical Michelin Star Restaurant. Based at a stunning Grade 1 listed 16th-century townhouse, providing a luxurious setting.

The kitchen provides a sophisticated fine-finding experience, using a variety of ingredients based on seasonal produce. Including regular favourites, such as Lindisfarne oysters, fresh scallops with pork belly or sweetcorn and parmesan churros. Located within the Biscuit Factory (one of the city’s most impressive galleries). This trendy restaurant has an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. The chef takes inspiration from the location to create mouth-watering dishes with a good selection of local ingredients. They also serve vegetarian and gluten-free options upon request.

Blackfriars Restaurant

This medieval restaurant won the Taste of England award in the North East Tourism Awards, recognising it as one of the best places to eat in Newcastle.

Established in 1239 as a Dominican friary, Blackfriars has a long and tempestuous history. It is situated in the heart of the city and provides a unique place to enjoy a relaxing meal. The menu is traditional British cuisine, using local ingredients, organic vegetables and delicious old breeds of pork, lamb and beef.

Six at the Baltic

Six can be found inside Gateshead’s Baltic gallery of contemporary art and offers stunning views of the Gateshead Quayside.

The restaurant serves up a menu of local favourites, with a delicious twist on traditional dishes. This is a popular restaurant for visitors going to see performances at The Sage, so can get booked up quickly. As such, we recommend booking a table outside of regular performance hours.

Lola Jean
