What you’ll do

Almost 1.5 Hours private wine Tour: A wonderful private wine tour in Crete for wine lovers to explore some of the most famous wineries and have at least 5 tastings in each winery. Enjoy a taste of Crete's wine culture firsthand on a visit to the island's best wineries where you'll savor a variety of local vintages. The tour can modify according to the client's schedule details. A private tour of 2 people or a small-group tour limited to up to six people.

Itinerary

“Idaia” is the first name of ancient Crete. This was the name of the mother of the ten Kouretes. Her husband Zeus, was the king of Crete. Zeus wanted to honour his wife, therefore he named the whole island “Idaia”.

The production of wines derived from traditional local varieties such as Kotsifali, Liatiko, Mandilaria which are the red ones, and Vidiano, Vilana, Thrapsathiri which are the white ones.

The company’s main philosophy is to highlight the quality of our local varieties on one hand and create new combinations of the local varieties with European varieties such as Syrah, Grenache Rouge, Sauvignon, etc.

The calcium-rich, clayish soil of the vineyards, the very low yields, and the special microclimate which is formed by the cool Aegean summer breeze compound a unique land for viticulture and wine production.

You will arrive at Idaia Winery in Venerato Village. A host will welcome you and inform you about the winery and its services. A tour of the winery will follow which includes product facilities, Wine Tanks, and product presentation,

At the main building in a warmly decorated area, you will taste some of the most famous wines on the island and all over Greece. A wine-tasting program of 5 different labels will be presented by a certified sommelier.

Wine Tasting Program:

A guided tasting of 5 different types of Cretan wine (2 whites - 1 Rose - 2 Red). Dive into the Cretan wine culture by tasting the most iconic local varieties and our signature estate blends. A platter of local cheese and rusks will accompany your wine tasting.
