What you’ll do

Your decadent tour of the Marais—one of Paris’ most atmospheric and food-loving neighborhoods—begins at a time that works best for you. Pick from start times that range from morning to mid-afternoon, meet your guide right in the neighborhood, and set off with a maximum of only nine other people for company. On this tour, you’ll learn all about what makes the Marais special, with stories about its Jewish history, culinary traditions, and local landmarks (like the Picasso Museum) which you’d be unlikely to encounter on your own. Over the course of a few hours, you’ll also follow your guide to eight different food destinations. Come hungry; you’ll enjoy 11 food tastings and two half-glasses of wine, enough to add up to a generous meal. This tour also accommodates various dietary needs and preferences, offering you comfort and flexibility. After indulging in the best that the neighborhood has to offer, you’ll finish at your original start time, with time left over in your day for more sightseeing.

Itinerary
1
Begin your exploration of the food scene in Marais the French way: with a buttery croissant from a local baker. Sample some of the freshly baked sourdough and hear more about how this bread is different to any other you’ll find in the city!
2
At a historic market in the neighborhood, you’ll try some specialty crêpes made from chickpea flour. Originating from the south of France, these delicious snacks have become locally renowned!
3
It’s time for something sweet! Next, you’ll take a trip to one of the best chocolatiers in the neighborhood. Sample some macarons from a spot whose owner boasts the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France – a title reserved for craftspeople at the top of their trade.
4
Learn more about the Jewish history of Paris with a visit to this store, opened in the 1946 in the heart of the Jewish Quarter. Full to the brim with various delicacies you won’t find elsewhere, you’ll get to sample some of their specialties including a brioche stuffed with beef (or a vegetarian equivalent!).
5
Step inside this old-school delicatessen to a food lover’s heaven. If cheese is your thing, you won’t be disappointed. Taste a handpicked selection of the finest cheeses along with some cured meats from the Auvergne and Aveyron regions in France.
6
Next, it’s time for a lesson in conscious cooking. Originally opened as a protest against the fast food chains appearing all over France, this restaurant has made it a point of pride to make everything on-site, from scratch using only quality, local products. You’ll taste the difference once you sample their delicious French onion soup.
7
A modern classic awaits at your next stop. This French-Syrian bakery fuses flavors of the Middle East and local French ingredients into little “nests” of joy. These pastries are pure delights and showcase the potential in combining two delicious cuisines.
8
The final stop on our French food adventure is, of course, a wine shop! Here you’ll meet the owner of this local gem and hear about his selective process of sourcing his natural wines. Sip on some sparkling refreshment as you expand your knowledge of French wines.
