Our expert driver will pick you up at your location (hotel, B&B or private apartment) and take you on a journey through the rolling hills of Tuscany. The first stop will be San Gimignano for a free visit of the city: the visit of the town and its magnificent towers will take about an hour. San Gimignano is a small walled medieval hill town not far from Siena. Known as the “Town of Fine Towers”, during the Middle Ages there were more than 70 towers in the city. Now it is a real open-air museum, where it seems to walk in the medieval period. The town also is known for saffron, the Golden Ham, and its white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, produced from the ancient variety of Vernaccia grape which is grown on the sandstone hillsides of the area. In the main square don't forget to taste the best 'ice cream in the world' in the Gelateria Dondoli, two time worldchampion (2007/2009) Later we will drive in one of the most beatifull wine road in Tuscany. We will drive through the sweet Chianti hills, amidst olive groves, cypress trees and vineyards up to the farm winery. For lunch we will reach a family-run winery, where we will enjoy a fabulous Tuscan lunch with homemade pasta, bruschetta, pecorino cheese and extra virgin olive oil. This incredible family of winemakers follows the rules of organic and natural production. All products are genuine and guaranteed and have the highest quality. All dishes will be paired with different Tuscan wines to enhance their taste: Tuscan red wine, Chianti Colli Senesi, rosé wine, 100% Sangiovese wine and Vernaccia white wine. You will also taste 5 different qualities of extra virgin olive oil and 3 different tastings of Balsamic Vinegar. All this while enjoying an incredible paromanic view of the Chianti hills and San Gimignano. After lunch. in the afternoon, we will move to the Monteriggioni Castle. Founded by the Sienese between 1213 and 1219 as an outpost against the Florentines, in antiquity Monteriggioni was famed as an impregnable fortress. Inside the castle you can visit the museum of medieval weapons. Afterwards we will make a final stop in a second Chianti winery.
