Itinerary

The Tour commences in front of the renowned Santa Croce Basilica, serving as the Italian Pantheon of Glories, where mausoleums of esteemed artists and scientists like Michelangelo and Galileo reside. It then proceeds through the captivating neighborhood of Sant'Ambrogio.

All morning versions of the tours, available from Monday to Saturday, include a captivating visit to the local market of Sant'Ambrogio (closed during holidays). Within the immersive journey, travelers are given the opportunity to unravel the rich Florentine food tradition by savoring some of the region's most cherished dishes.

Alongside our esteemed Food Ambassador, a knowledgeable local guide, and culinary expert, participants will indulge in a delectable sampling of Florentine street food, specifically the renowned schiacciata, at a local bakery frequented by locals. In stark contrast to other parts of Florence, the Sant'Ambrogio neighborhood strikes the perfect balance of central convenience and an authentic local atmosphere, remaining unspoiled by mass tourism. The Food Ambassador will expertly navigate hidden corners of the area, providing insights into Florentine and Italian everyday life. Furthermore, in the local market, students will relish in additional culinary tastings, including refreshing vegetable crudité and local cold cuts and cheeses, while simultaneously immersing themselves in the vibrant Florentine lifestyle.

Arguably a highlight of the tour for students will be the engaging food challenge. Here, the Food Ambassador will tempt travelers with a sample of a mysterious local dish, daring them to discern its ingredients. The tour culminates with delightful tastings of pan sciocco (silly bread), and a delectable main dish (typically a local pasta specialty), and concludes with a satisfying indulgence in gelato from the oldest gelateria in town.
