What you’ll do

This half-day experience combines a 3-hour horse ride with a wine-tasting session at an estate along the famous South African Franschhoek Wine Route, just outside of Cape Town. Starting at 9 AM on location at the Vrede en Lust Wine Estate, the tour is suitable for both novice riders and those with more experience. The ride takes place through a working farm and its vast array of vineyards, along the way stopping for 1 or 2 wine tastings. If you are with friends or family not taking part, they are welcome to spend time at the nearby Lust Bistro & Bakery which remains open during your visit.

Meeting Point: Vrede en Lust Wine Estate

Horse Ride: Set off on a horseback adventure through Franschhoek's wine valley. Enjoy picturesque views across the vineyards and mountainous terrain and the opportunity for leisurely cantering or a more steady pace, based on your group preferences.

Wine Tasting Experience: Sample a selection of wines available at an especially chosen wine estate on the Franschhoek Wine Route, where you can also gain a quick insight into the production of South African wine.

Lunch Options: Although not included in the wine tour, guests are welcome to join those not partaking in the horse riding at the nearby Lust Bistro & Bakery.

Drop-off: The tour concludes at the starting point.

End Time: Approximately 12 PM

Mind was blown! We enjoyed every bit of this tour! Horses were so tamed and easy. Wine was amazing! Weather was perfect! Chantal and another guy that had a unique name, they were the best guides we could ever ask for. We drove ourselves there so it was a tad difficult to understand where this was located but you’re going to love the warm welcome from the doggos when you arrive. 5 stars is not enough! I’d give a 10!

We had a marvellous day with fantastic horses, great wine and lovely Michelle. Novise and experienced riders went well together in the same group. Thank you Michelle for a great day, hope to see you again... sooner than 10 years next time :)
