What you’ll do

After your pick-up from your hotel, we are heading towards Monastiraki Square, a can’t-miss spot in the city of Athens. We cross the Monastiraki square and we get closer to the Ancient Agora of Athens, which was the heart of ancient Athens. Today it’s one of the city's most important archaeological sites. Not only you will get to see the most well-preserved classic temple, dedicated to Volcan, but you will have the chance to step in a Stoa or portico, that houses the findings of the site today. Later on, we come back to Monastiraki Square and through Mitropoleos Street, we are going to have a taste of the most “trendy” Agora of Athens, ERGON House. Here, we are going to explore a modern market with food products of small, independent, honest, food artisans. This is the right place to promote Greek gastronomy and this is the right place to taste the authentic Greek cuisine Our tour will finish at around 13:00 and your professional guide will accompany you to your location.
Itinerary
1
There aren’t many places which showcase so perfectly the multi-layered mix of cultures which we call Greek civilization, like Monastiraki square. It is situated north of Plaka, the traditional neighborhood under the Acropolis, and right next to the busy junction of two central streets, Ermou and Athinas.
2
The Agora was the heart of ancient Athens, the focus of political, commercial, administrative and social activity, the religious and cultural centre, and the seat of justice.
3
The Temple of Hephaestus or Hephaisteion or earlier as the Theseion , is a well-preserved Greek temple; it remains standing largely as built. It is a Doric peripteral temple, and is located at the north-west side of the Agora of Athens , on top of the Agoraios Kolonos hill. From the 7th century until 1834, it served as the Greek orthodox church of Saint George Akamates. The building's condition has been maintained due to its history of varied use.
4
The Stoa of Attalos (also spelled Attalus) was a stoa (covered walkway or portico) in the Agora of Athens,Greece. It was built by and named after King Attalos II of Pergamon, who ruled between 159 BC and 138 BC. The current building was reconstructed in 1952–1956 by American architects along with the Greek architect Ioannis Travlos and the Greek Civil Engineer Yeoryios Biris.
5
The 25-metre glass atrium flooded with natural light is a lifestyle destination. Ten thousand square feet of pure happiness where you’ll find urban farmers harvesting a vertical orchard, opposite a mural by world-famous Greek graffiti artist INO. Where bakers, butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers bring the best and freshest of everything to market and chefs are at hand to prepare your purchase for you to enjoy on the spot or even takeaway. When it comes to food, authenticity is everything.
6
Metropolis Cathedral Of The Annunciation : At the heart of Athens, at Metropoleos street, and on the square with the same name, is the cathedral church of the city of Athens and one of the first large monuments of Athens as the capital of Greece. The Metropolitan Cathedral of the Annunciation is the cathedral church of the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece. Construction of the Cathedral began on Christmas Day, 1842, with the laying of the cornerstone by King Othon and Queen Amalia.
