What you’ll do
Paella is one of Spain's iconic dishes, a fantastic way to combine tradition, local products, and Mediterranean culture. This dish brings together some of the finest ingredients from this region, such as rice from the Delta del Ebro, extra virgin olive oil from Lleida, the finest fish and seafood from our coasts, and a huge variety of seasonal vegetables that grow nearby. It's a unique opportunity to understand how a dish transcends the table, becoming a cultural tool that unites territories, creates community, and essentially serves as a snapshot of the history of this region.
In this hands-on cooking workshop, you'll learn to prepare this classic recipe in many of its variations. You'll see the dish through the chef's eyes and understand not only the history and secrets of this iconic recipe but also the best tricks to achieve a professional result. Guided by our local chefs, you'll don a chef's apron and explore the multiple ways to prepare a good paella. You'll learn about the importance of seasonal ingredients, the quality of the products, and the uniqueness of all the elements that make this recipe a reflection of the landscape of this territory. You'll discover how to make a perfect paella for home, one you can replicate to surprise your loved ones with a 100% original recipe.
Just as with the Spanish tradition of rice, you'll have the opportunity to share this experience and meet others who are also passionate about gastronomy. We'll discover new stories and share a family-style meal together, surrounded by local products, paella, local wine, and good company. The workshop takes place in a privileged corner of the Ciutat Vella neighborhood, a unique location in the heart of Barcelona, just minutes from the Arc de Triomf. In a professional kitchen with natural light, you'll have all the necessary materials to cook memorable experiences. This proposal is adapted for everyone, regardless of their skills or experience, allowing you to take a piece of this city with you through its unique gastronomy.
Through participatory training, you'll take a guided 2-hour class where you'll make different types of paella in groups, using seasonal products: fish, seafood, meats, or vegetables. The experience will consist of several groups, each made up of two people. Each group will be cooking a different type of paella, leading to a more tailored experience due to the intimate group size and variety of paellas. The session will culminate in a delightful sharing moment, where all groups will showcase their paellas, providing everyone with the opportunity to savor each unique dish. You'll cook your own rice with carefully selected ingredients, and we'll ensure it always turns out perfect. We’ll also offer you a complete meal, including an appetizer with the best selection of available local products, homemade desserts, and of course, the paella we’ll cook together.
Learn, enjoy, discover, and meet amazing people in a landmark as special as the center of Barcelona. A unique experience that will show you that behind every dish, there's always a great story to tell.
