What you’ll do

Indulge in the fine art of eating tapas—Spanish-style small dishes—and experience Barcelona like a local. An in-the-know guide takes you to vibrant tapas bars and bodegas in Old Town. Four glasses of wine or local Vermouth are included with your tapas. By the end of the tour you'll not only be familiar with some local tapas and drinks but also with some hidden secrets of the Old Town! Numbers are limited to 12 people for a small-group experience.
Itinerary
1
Meet your English-speaking guide in front of the Centre d’Art Santa Mònica at the bottom of the Ramblas (Metro Station ‘Drassanes’) before setting off on a Barcelona food tour like no other.
2
We take you away from the touristy spots and into local neighbourhoods, like the once notorious no-go-area Raval, which nowadays features a unique blend of old medieval buildings, dodgy streets, ambitious new architectural projects with the traditional, multi-ethnic life of the barrio. Just a stone’s throw away, you will enjoy the first tapas experience of the evening in an informal, old bodega from 1903, where we’ll start tasting a filling bomb and a nice glass of red wine.
3
The next place awaits us as we navigate our way through one of the most beautiful squares of the Gothic Quarter and its adjacent small streets that still retain their old medieval ambiance. Our next stop is a bar with a beautiful, secret garden where we’ll taste Spanish ham and pa amb tomàquet (bread with tomato) accompanied by a nice white or red wine (as you do!). From there, our Barcelona tapas tour continues as we cross the old heart of Barcino, the name given by the Romans to the city that they founded more than two thousand years ago, where we will identify four columns from old Troy and the transformations that the Old Town experienced.
4
We will pass by Basilica of Saints Justus and Pastor.
5
Next up is a hidden, charming, typical Bodega from the first third of the twentieth century, where you can have a vermut (vermouth) and indulge in their exotic croquettes. Then, on the way to the next place, we’ll see some of the oldest businesses of Barcelona (one from 1761), the Roman Walls, the Cathedral or even a giant work by Picasso before vanishing again in the labyrinth of narrow streets.
6
Then, on the way to the last venue, we’ll see the Cathedral or even a giant work by Picasso before vanishing again in the labyrinth of narrow streets. We’ll walk then in a very local and traditional Vermouth cellar where of course you will get a glass or Vermouth or local “pincho”. It is a must to taste.
