Itinerary
1
In the San Lorenzo area, you will enjoy an excellent breakfast with a typical Florentine pastry: the delicious 'rice pudding', accompanied by an excellent coffee. You will learn about the origins of this dessert. Find out how rice arrived in Florence, how it has been used over the years and how pastry chefs came to create such a delicious dessert from such a simple food.
2
Just a few steps away is the Mercato Centrale di San Lorenzo, one of Florence's most famous attractions. Let yourself be seduced by the scent of typical Florentine cuisine and the thousands of colours and sounds that the market has to offer. You will discover the importance for a local to buy local food in a neighborhoods market. You’ll have the chance to take home some Florentine tastes and scents.
3
Leaving the Mercato Centrale, you will walk through the streets of the city centre until you reach the magnificent Duomo di Firenze, discovering the history of the monuments in the square accompanied by our professional guide.
4
From here you will walk through the alleys of the centre until you reach a small restaurant where you can taste the famous 'coccoli' (small ball of dough fried in olive oil) and 'schiacciata' accompanied by a glass of wine.
5
Afterwards, your guide will take you to discover small treasures of Florentine culture such as Dante's birthplace, the Florentine Badia and many others. Find out where the parliamentary ate when Florence was the capital of Italy.
6
We are confident that at the end of this tour you will be more conscious regarding the authentic tuscan food and you will gain a better knowledge about the history of Florence.
7
Finally, sit down in a delicious restaurant in the city centre to enjoy the world-famous Florentine T-bone steak, today considered to be the “Queen of Florence”, a culinary symbol of the city.
8
To end on a sweet note, the 'zuccotto alla fiorentina', a sponge cake dough drowned in our alchermes (liqueur) with a center of frozen mousse, and a fresh homemade ice cream are a must.
