Embark on an authentic culinary journey with a private dinner at a Basque gastronomic society. Led by a knowledgeable guide, guests delve into the heart of Basque culture, enjoying a traditional menu crafted by a member of the society. While not a formal cooking class, guests have the opportunity to engage with the chef, learning about Basque culinary traditions and techniques.
6
The menu boasts a delightful array of seasonal delights, from assorted starters to fresh fish and grilled Txuleta, all complemented by Basque desserts and a selection of beverages including wine, cider, and beer. However, this experience goes beyond mere dining; guests actively participate in the gastronomic society's customs, assisting in setting tables, cooking, serving, and cleaning up alongside fellow diners.

An exerience we’ll never forget!! Best hostess Oihane and chef Inigo the food was excellent! A must for all foodies. Thank you!
On our last night in San Sebastian, Clara took us to a local gastronomic society. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. First, our host, Inigo, showed us around the place and explained some of the history of that particular gastronomic society as well as gastronomic societies, generally. He then showed us what he was preparing us for dinner, which consisted of roasted peppers, a sort of gazpacho, tuna collar, prawns, hake, and the largest dry-aged T-bone I'd ever scene. To the extent we wanted to participate, Inigo encouraged us to help out in the kitchen.
We had the most amazing experience at gastronomic society with our thoughtful, intelligent and interesting guide Clara and our amazing host whose name sadly escapes me. It was worth every penny and I would do it again in a heartbeat. In fact, I would just pay to hang out with Clara and the chef because they were super interesting and made it an educational and amazing experience. Getting to know basque culture was a joy.
We had the most amazing evening. our guide Jose Louis was both knowledgable and enthusiastic". He knew the best places to go ensuring the most amazing and inventive creative food, the mix of traditional and modern was spot on, as was his choice of wines. H even took us to his gastronomic society and we were lucky enough to get a personal tour of one of the amazing clubs and one of the oldest in San Sebastián, I really can't comment on set tours apart from it was a pleasure to eat what both Jose recommend but also things we wanted to try, also the same applies with wine, dessert wines and champagne, the idea of this all being preselected and having no choice on other tours would really.not appeal as we ordered many things that probably would not have been included if it had been a set tour, Jose stayed until we where finished and the tour lasted 3 1/2 hours, with out question the highlight for us so far. We followed the pintos guide from the hotel Maria Christina the day before the food was ok just ok, this tour delivered what i expected from San Sebastián . We also ate a few days previously in Mugartiz 7th best In the World and left Throughly disappointed worrying we had made a mistake about San Sebastián this tour changed our minds. I can't recommend this highly enough worth every penny and that was 70 € for 3 1/2 hours you would never discover these places alone it takes a local who enjoys food as much as we do 5 stars !!!
This is really the best way to experience San Sebastian cuisine. Our guide Marivi was friendly and knew exactly what you order. Highly recommend you take this tour on day one of your trip to San Sebastian so you know all of the best places to go.
