From San Sebastian: Cooking Class at a Private Club

Great gastronomic day! We were searching for a cooking class that provided a true local feel - not a cookie cutter, everything prepared for you class. We also wanted the local insight to the history and the current trends here in the heart of Basque Country. Jon was amazing - full of energy and insight and a zeal to provide fantastic customer service. We explored the local market (not that big) but Jon knows the vendors. Then we went to one of the Gastronoimc Clubs to cook with Pepe (the chef - who was also full of energy. The menu was customized for us. Wine, cooking, eating, laughing - what could be better. A true local experience.

We did the San Sebastián tour as well as the Basque Country tour and both were perfect! The San Sebastián tour was a perfect mix of the history of the city combined with some of the best food and wine you can get there. The Basque Country tour was beautiful and also provided a ton of great historical information that was also topped off with great food and wine. In both cases the guides were so nice it was like hanging out with friends and not tour guides. I would highly recommend any of the tours Basque Tours offers...professional people delivering the highest quality experiences!

We did this tour of our first day in San Sebastian. It was a great tour and a very good orientation tot he city. Our guide was knowledgeable and very helpful suggesting other things we might want to do while visiting San Sebastian. The lunch was fun and very interesting. Food was OK - but experience was fabulous!

We had three days of private tours for our group. Our favorite by far was the market stroll and gastronomical lunch with Jani. It was fabulous. Our favorite meal of our whole trip.

I can't say enough about the quality of the tours and Jon, Jani, Andy, tour guides. Jon and Jani the owners are so caring, authentic , knowledgeable and fun our trip would NOT have been even 1/100th as good without them. we did the pintxo, city, market and gastronomic club, french countryside with Andy, and basque countryside.Every tour was spectacular --do not miss any of them. do not miss the best fish of your life in Getaria fishing village. also the best tuna canned onsite--buy some! also the site from game of thrones, the coffee on top of the mountain, the private club cooking and dining experience on the terrace--I need 10 pages to write how perfect the trip was due to basque tours. We LOVED every minute! we can't wait to come back -they did custom timing for our tours-we really appreciated that

My wife and I did the pinxtos tour through Jon and Jani's company a couple years ago, and we had such a great time that we reached out to them again when we were in San Sebastian this year. The last time we were in San Sebastian we heard about the famous cooking clubs, and Jon and Jani offered a "tour" and opportunity to cook at their club. When we read about it, we jumped at the opportunity to cook a traditional basque meal at their club. We went shopping with Jani and spent a couple hours cooking, talking, and enjoying great food and wine. We also learned how to cook a couple dishes that we still make at home. Jon and Jani are great hosts, and I would highly recommend connecting with them to get an unforgettable Basque experience.

We spent the day with Jani for the gastro club lunch market experience and we could not have had a better experience. She was such a great guide, host and companion for the day. There were times during the day that we felt we were just spending time with a friend in the best way possible. She was such an amazing and hospitable host showing around the city and hosting us at the gastro club. If you ever get the opportunity definitely use this service if at all possible. Our Such a blast of a day and great guide! We also did the cheese farm/wine tour with Andy the day prior and ditto for our experience with him. A must do while in Basque and authentic way to learn more about the unique area/culture. Thanks to Andy and Jani!!

This was such a wonderful day. We (two couples) loved having the opportunity to experience a unique part of the Basque culture, enjoying a great meal in one of the members-only gastro clubs. Jani was our guide and chef. She led us on a tour of the market, where we chose the ingredients for our meal. On our walk from the market to the club, Jani told us about the city, giving us a local’s perspective. Working with Jani to prepare our meal was so much fun. We had the best time!

Our experience with Basque tours was nothing short of amazing. We felt as though we were with friends. We did five separate tours with Jon and Jani and every one of them was an incredible experience. The local produce market tour and lunch in a private gastronomic club was one of the many highlights we experienced during our stay in San Sebastian. I highly recommend them.

Extraordinary tour! I cannot recommend this more highly. With dozens and dozens of pintxos bars to choose from, going with this tour company means you will be taken to THE best places along with the history and backstories of the area. Lide was our guide who was a total delight, completely knowledgeable, very open, and smart. The 4 of us could not have been happier. It is worth the investment for sure . . .
