From Barcelona: 1.5 Day White Grenache Wine Tour with History and Nature in Terra Alta

What you’ll do

Combine the incredible white wines of Corbera near Barcelona with a nature walk in the Els Ports Natural Park. Day 1 follows the Estrets canyon, with a walking tour through the park and the unspoilt natural habitat for wild goats, otters, vultures and a landscape famously captured by painter Pablo Picasso. Day 2 visit the historical town of Corbera for a morning of wine-tasting in the trenches used during the Ebre Civil War. Overnight accommodation is included at a family-run hotel owned by a local shepherd.

Day 1: Nature walk through the park and along the banks of the river Estreet via the impressive rocky canyon. With a local guide by your side, search for wild goats, vultures, otters and more. You will also visit the very cave made famous by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, who once stayed for several months to find inspiration for his art.

Day 2: Spend the morning with a local historian in Corbera learning all about the Ebre civil war and visit the centre dedicated to the 115 days of Ebre battle. There will also be a chance to admire the views from a village from the hill, where the impacts of the war are still visible to this day. Afterwards, sample delicious organic wines made 100% from the locally grown white grenache grapes, grown in the surrounding vineyards.

Lunch and dinner: Although not included in the tour, your hotel at the village of Horta de Sant Joan is known for presenting delicious food throughout your stay. Breakfast will be served including locally sourced produce.
