    Gain a riveting introduction to Kyoto’s food culture with this small-group guided tour. Begin with the 400m long Nishiki Market, nicknamed 'Kyoto's Kitchen,' where over 130 food shops and stalls will beckon your taste buds. Learn about its food culture, history and taste the unique dishes including: Tofu Skin, sesame cracker, Japanese pike conger eel, omelet, Croquette and Japanese Sake. Rest your appetite by a nearby shrine dedicated to the God of Education (Nishiki Shrine). Follow this up by sauntering through the famous Pontocho Geisha Alley- a narrow street. It’s lined with enduring shops and traditional restaurants waiting to be explored, and the complete dismal of cars and modern buildings invites you further to be engrossed by the mesmeric surroundings. Here, alongside our final destination, Gion district is renowned for Geisha living area. Not only will you be educated about this classical tradition, you may have the chance to even meet one but if you are lucky!

  3. Tour Itinerary

    Day 1 :
    Visit 130 local shops in Nishiki Market and learn the local food culture!! You can have several traditional foods such as Yuba (Tofu Skin), Rice Ball, Freid Fish Cake, Hamo (Sea Eel), Japanese Omelet, and Sake. Also, you could sample various foods such as Pickled Vegetables, Japanese Spices, Chestnuts, Beans, Seaweed snacks, Honey Drink, and so on!! Apart from Food, there are also knife shops, soap shop, Fabric shops. You could find what you want wiz local knowledgeable guides!!

    You will know how to pray in Japanese Shinto Shrine. Also, you could know the basics about the worships among Japanese People. If you like, you can try a fortune paper.

    After Nishiki Tenmangu, you will go through Shinkyogoku Modern Shopping Street, Kawaramachi Street, and Kiyamachi Street. Since Kiyamachi Street is famous for Cherry Blossom (Sakura), you could view the blooming cherry in Spring. In other season, you can enjoy the quiet atmosphere with canal. After Kiyamachi Street, you will go through hidden alley and arrive to Pontocho Backstreet. Since Pontocho is one of Maiko (Geisha) Districts, if you are lucky, you can see Maiko!!

    To visit Gion District, you will across beautiful Shijo Bridge!! On the bridge, you could see ducks. And if you are lucky, you could see wild heron.

    You will have original Kyoto Sweets in the beautiful building renovated from Kabuki Theater. The sweets is traditional one, but you can enjoy it by the unique way. You can eat it just here!!

    After having sweets, you will head to Gion Shirakawa area where is also famous for cherry blossom You will see the traditional well-preserved townhouse area. There are many houses relating to Maiko. There is also Tatsumi Shrine which is known in the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha". If you have an interest, the guide tell you about the details of Maiko's life.
