  1. Meeting Point
  2. Tour Overview

For many the image of a group of people sitting on the lawn with a croquet set, drinking a cold class of G&T (Gin & tonic) takes them back to the days of Agatha Christie and Murder Mysteries. Gin has enjoyed a big come back on the drinks trolley and so it should, Aberdeenshire has some fabulous distilleries and you'll be able to visit one.

Then you can wander through and explore the stunning Crathes Castle with its very own croquet lawn by the walled gardens and escape the world with a woodland walk. A perfect combination.

  3. Tour Itinerary

We will drive along the Royal Deeside and the River Dee towards the home of Lost Loch Spirits. You will be taken through the history of Gin, Absinth and the art of distilling. You'll be able to taste some of the spirits too. (Over 18's only)

There are several options for lunch on this tour and we like to be flexible to be able to chose the experience which fits the group best. All the cafes and restaurants we use at Grampian Escapes and Tours are independently run and provide high quality, locally sourced food on their menus.

If you have dietary requirements, please let us know at the time of departure and we can make arrangements for lunch.

    Crathes Castle

Considered one of the jewels in the crown for the National Trust for Scotland is the beautiful Crathes Castle Estate. With a picture prefect castle and stunning gardens & estate you'll be able to explore to your hearts content.

The Burnett Family who lived in the castle for over 350 years, had roots in the area dating back to 1323. Alexander Burnett built the castle in the 16th century, an intricate maze of turrets, towers, oak panels and painted ceilings. The ceilings are a particularly unique feature of this castle.
