Highlights

Your WSET Level 4 wine guide will drive you from your accommodation at Costa del Sol to the charming white-washed village of Competa, via a luxury 4WD minivan. At Competa, you will visit two local wineries. First, you visit the traditional, family-run and third-generation winery, where you will relish the heroic farming techniques. UNESCO recently recognised these techniques as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS), which still includes old-school mule ploughing techniques to farm vineyards. Enjoy the dry white, rosé, and traditional sweet Malaga wines during your tasting.

You will be chauffeured to a modern winery carved into the staggeringly beautiful hillside of the Axarquia. There you'll receive a tour through both modern and traditional winemaking techniques, including the vineyard's special technique of drying grapes in the sun for sweet wine. After the tour, you can sit back with a view of the breathtaking panorama from the winery's restaurant and indulge in a gourmet three-course meal made from locally grown, seasonal produce, paired with a range of red, white, rosé and a glass of sweet wine from Malaga.

12:30 - Welcome to the first vineyard! Here, you'll have the chance to visit a traditional vineyard and discover how the famous Malaga wine is crafted. Enjoy a tasting of 3-4 wines, including white, red, and sweet varieties, paired with a delightful tapas-style lunch served in the barrel room.

At 3:00 pm, we'll reach the next winery - a contemporary vineyard run by the younger generation of one of Malaga's most famous wine makers.
