Feel the grace of a cozy, lovely, and romantic Tbilisi, then cast your mind back into the medieval scenery of Mtskheta, the most popular touristic city of Georgia. 09:00 Pick up from the hotel Our guide picks you up from the hotel at 10:00 and takes you to our company for the check-in procedure, then an unforgettable trip begins. 09:15 Old town Tbilisi Duration: 3 hours and 30 minutes We visit famous sights of Tbilisi such as Metekhi Cathedral, Monument of Vakhtang Gorgasali, cable car, the statue of Mother of Georgia, Narikala fortress, sulfur baths district, Leghvtakhevi Waterfall, Shardeni Street, Sioni Church, Anchiskhati Church, the Clock Tower of the Puppet Theater Rezo Gabriadze, Bridge of Peace, etc. First, our journey begins with a nice walk through the old street to Metekhi Church. Then you listen to the great history of the foundation of Tbilisi. Next, we cross Bridge of Peace through Europe Square and Rike Park and attend the show at the unique Clock Tower of Rezo Gabriadze Puppet Theater. Also, you learn the story about Anchiskhati Church and visit Sioni Cathedral with the most beautiful frescoes. After we see the statue of the Toastmaster and by cable car, we go up to Mother of Georgia’s Monument and take stunning pictures of Tbilisi. On the way, you enjoy impressive views of the “Leghvtakhevi” gorge. 13:00 Holy Trinity Duration: 30 minutes Our first stop is Holy Trinity Cathedral, locally known as “Sameba.” The Cathedral construction was only completed back in 2004, so it doesn’t offer the same amount of history like most other Tbilisi churches. But the Holy Trinity Cathedral is impressive in different ways. It’s the third-largest Orthodox cathedral globally, with 97.5 meters only after the Saint Isaac´s Cathedral in Saint Petersburg and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. 14:00 Lunch Duration: 1 hour We have lunch in a restaurant where we can try a lot of different traditional Georgian dishes. 15:45 Jvari Monastery Duration: 45 minutes The name of this monastery is translated as the "Monastery Of The Cross." For Georgian monastery in Jerusalem with the same name. Jvari Monastery is a sixth-century Georgian Orthodox monastery near Mtskheta. Along with other historic structures of Mtskheta, it is listed as the UNESCO world heritage site. Jvari Monastery stands on the top of the rocky mountain at the confluence of the Mtkvari and the Aragvi rivers, overlooking the town of Mtskheta, which was formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Iberia. 16:45 Mtskheta and Svetitskhoveli Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes Mtskheta is one of the oldest cities of Georgia, founded by the ancient Meschian tribes in the 5th century. Due to its historical significance and several cultural monuments, it is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It was the capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD. However, Mtskheta continued to serve as the coronation and burial place for most kings of Georgia until the end of the kingdom in the 19th century. The Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (literally the Cathedral of the Living Pillar) is currently the second-largest church building in Georgia, after the Holy Trinity cathedral. Known as the burial site of Christ's mantle, Svetitskhoveli is one of the most venerated places of worship in the region.
