What you'll do

The history of Arezzo goes way, way back, even pre-dating Alexandria in Egypt! Long before the Ancient Romans arrived, Arezzo was the capital of one of the twelve Etruscan tribes. Then in the Roman ages it developed into a thriving cultural center with an amphitheater still intact today. In the Middle Ages, many Romanesque churches were constructed, such as the Church of San Domenico, where you can find a Crucifix by Cimabue, followed by churches in the Italian Gothic style, such as the Basilica di San Francesco, where Renaissance artist Piero della Francesca painted his marvelous frescoes in the 15th century. Explore these wonders of Western art, stroll the charming cobblestone streets of the city, and enjoy the best gelato in Tuscany with the accompaniment of a local who can answer all your questions.
