Yet strangely familiar, like a slight whisper of another home situated a quick boat ride away. Visit Sweden tailors a two-night journey to the outer archipelago that starts at Nybroviken in downtown Stockholm. As a guest, you’ll go by rib speed boat to Stavsnäs, where you’ll be fitted with a kayak for the coming trip to Harö Natur situated by Kanholmsfjärden. The professional kayak guides will introduce you to kayaking, according to some the best way to experience archipelago nature. In safe and stable 2-person kayaks you make your way towards the island of Harö and stop for a lunch on the way. When you arrive at Harö you’ll set your sights on wild island vegetation as you traverse the calm waters. At Harö Natur guests can enjoy a store filled with sustainable local produce and freshly caught fish, firewood prepared pizza as well as relaxing activities such as massages, sauna and kayaking around the neighbouring islands, finally finishing off the day with a 5-course meal. With nighttime closing in, and you unpack your bags, you’ll set sight on something special that often is neglected. In the outer archipelago, light pollution is significantly lower than in the cities, therefore while staying in Harö’s floating cabin with its see-through roof, you will indulge in a ceiling full of stars dancing before you and surrender to the splendour of the cosmos. DAY 2: JOURNEY TO THE HARBOUR Upon waking up, on your second day you’ll head for the island called Sandön and its harbour city of Sandhamn. This journey will be made by kayak which is the most sustainable way to experience the outer archipelago to the fullest. On an approximately 7 km journey from Harö, you’ll get to experience the outer archipelago to the fullest with guides that have the preservation of the local biosphere as a top priority. The island has been populated since the 18th century but it's been the home for Swedish customs since the 16th century. On arrival at Sandhamn a comfortable room awaits at the Sandhamn Seglarhotell, with a rich history that dates back to the earliest days of the island’s population, the island has a lot to offer its visitors, ranging from boutique restaurants with freshly caught seafood, bars that have seen sailors come travelling in and out for almost 200 years, not to mention the freshly baked cinnamon buns at the bakery and a myriad of sports activities for the wild bunch. But for those that come here seeking relaxation, the spa will be open for your pleasure. DAY 3: THE RETURN As the end of your trip draws near and you’ve woken up to a new morning, a few hours of exploring the island awaits until you’ll board the Waxholm Ferry back to the city center in the afternoon. Why not take a self-guided island hike around Sandön, or just linger in the picturesque village of Sandhamn? More info The standard kayak equipment is a double kayak. If you are very experienced, there is a possibility to change to a single kayak, let us know after booking. Beginners are welcome, we recommend medium fitness level. Most travelers can participate.
