Truffle hunt and Barolo wine tasting

What you'll do

Italy’s Piedmont region is known as a gastronomic capital. On this private tour, you won’t just get to taste some of its most famous culinary products—you’ll go behind the scenes and see how they’re produced. First, join a truffle hunter and his dog on a walk, and see if you unearth any treasures. Then, transfer to a family-run winery, where you’ll learn how wine is made and enjoy samples of Barolo. Note: occasionally, the truffle hunt may be shared with a few other guests, in order to preserve the delicate environment where truffles grow, endangered by the recent climate changes

Itinerary

  • 1
The tour starts at the train station of Alba or in your hotel (if located nearby). Within a 20 minutes drive we will be in the heart of production of Barolo wine.
  • 2

Let our guide take you on the most panoramic wine routes winding through the area of production of the famous Barolo wine, spread across eleven municipalities, where Nebbiolo grapes are cultivated. Take advantage of stunning photo opportunities over the Langhe hills which are part of the 50th UNESCO World Heritage site of Italy, because of the historical value of a unique patchwork landscape, dotted with medieval towers, castles and quaint villages. Get familiar with elements and facts of the region otherwise silent to a hurried glance.

  • 3

Continue to an off-the-beaten-track boutique winery – where quality and family traditions are valued – and step inside the cellar to taste four premium wines including two different types of Barolo.

  • 4

Truffle hunting in the woods which last about 1-1.5 hour
