What you'll do
Meet your guide and group, then venture into Kensington Market, a distinctively multicultural neighborhood in downtown Toronto. This area is one of the city’s oldest and most well-known regions and has been designated as a National Historic Site of Canada. Kensington Market evolved from a working-class Jewish market into a working-class bohemian market. With so many different immigrants settling here over the past century, there is now an ample variety of colors, sounds and flavors from all over the world. Witness the vintage shops, cafes, bakeries and bars, plus the plethora of bare brick walls that have been covered with stunning graffiti murals and street art. Visit several shops, bakeries and vendors on this unique tour and indulge in sweet and savory tastes from around the world. You'll even get to try a truly 'Canadian' dish that has been given a special twist for the tour. Between stops, learn about the history and culture of food in Toronto and find out the little-known secrets behind the food we eat every day. The series of tastings equals a hearty lunch.

Itinerary
- 1Tasty Tours was one of the first to offer food tours of the Kensington Market area, and we’ve been running tours in this neighbourhood for over 10 years now. Kensington Market and it’s neighbouring Chinatown was a natural choice for us to choose for a food tour, as it truly reflects the spirit of Toronto as one of the most multicultural cities in the world. Chinese, Mexican, Canadian…you name it, you can find it here. Kensington Market is an interesting area to visit because it has managed to retain its immigrant, working-class culture in the face of rampant gentrification. As you stroll down the streets of Kensington, you will notice that unlike most other neighbourhoods in Toronto, there is a surprising lack of large corporations in the neighbourhood.
