Gourmet Dining and show at the Mandarin Oriental

What you'll do

The historic Mandarin Oriental hosts dinner theatre in a sumptuous Thai pavilion located across the river in Thonburi. With its recent Michelin Star, you can be guaranteed the best dining experience. The talented culinary team at Sala Rim Naam has created an outstanding Thai culinary menu of traditional favourites and seasonal specialities. Housed in a richly decorated pavilion built in the traditional Northern Thai style, Sala Rim Naam is the setting for a unique cultural experience — a classical Thai dance show performed every night at 7:45pm - enjoyed during a delicious meal of traditional Thai dishes including Lon Poo Talay (sea crab meat cooked in coconut milk), Yaam Talay (spiced seafood salad) and Mussamun Nuea (southern style beef curry with sweet potato and onion). The room accommodates two stages, one of a traditional orchestra and one for highly skilled Thai dancers performing excerpts of the Khon Dance. If you have been to dinners featuring a Thai show before you might be a bit worried as it often feels touristy or too loud but the level of music is just right, more like background entertainment than an invasive show. The dancer's costumes are superbly crafted and dances are beautifully executed, a fascinating performance especially if this is your first time in Thailand. Choice of 4 Course or 5 Course. Sample Menu as follows; Crisp-fried noodles topped with bitter orange and banana blossom Flower dumpling with crab meat Banana prawn salad with lemongrass in pastry shell Pomelo salad with shredded capon chicken Spicy river prawns with lemongrass soup Penang curry with grilled marinated tenderloin beef Charcoal grouper fish with herbs and coconut cream Stir fried lotus root with garlic Organic brown and Jasmine rice Water chestnut in coconut milk, coconut ice cream Petits Fours
