United by an indelible bond forged through an enduring partnership, they fulfilled Nonno Raffaele’s cherished dream. The inaugural chapter of this odyssey was penned by Raffaele Palomba himself, a man driven by an unwavering passion for nurturing grapes. It was on the undulating slopes of Mount Vesuvius that he acquired his first vineyard, a pivotal moment that propelled him into the realm of viticulture.

In the 1970s, Raffaele entirely devoted himself to these hallowed lands, cultivating grapes of exceptional quality that garnered resounding acclaim from local winemakers. Amidst his endeavours, he also produced wine for his beloved family, guided solely by an unadulterated ardour and reverence for his ancestral soil.

Nestled amidst these very vineyards, an unbreakable and enduring kinship unfolded between the two families. Golden afternoons spent amid the rows, the symphony of harvest days, and the treasured moments of camaraderie, all against a backdrop of a magnificent panorama. From this initial vineyard, an enchanting vista unfurls, stretching from the southern reaches of Naples to the azure expanse of the Sorrento Coast.

And so, in 1996 Gaetano Palomba, Raffaele's son, and Franco Monaco embarked on a pioneering endeavour: the birth of the Bosco De’ Medici cellar.

The winery takes its name from a serendipitous discovery—a boundary marker etched with the letter "M" and adorned with a regal crown, emblematic of the Medici, the esteemed Florentine dynasty that later settled in the Kingdom of Naples during the 16th century. This artefact was found in a vineyard believed to have once belonged to a branch of the illustrious Medici family. Over the next two decades, Bosco De’ Medici dedicated unwavering efforts to the cultivation of indigenous grape varieties, carrying forth the legacy of Nonno Raffaele, even in the wake of his passing.

In 2014, a new generation assumed the mantle of responsibility. The sons of Gaetano and Franco, Antonio and Giuseppe, would bring their vision to fruition, overseeing the construction of the cellar in Pompeii and introducing the inaugural official vintage of Bosco De’ Medici wines.

Antonio Monaco and Giuseppe Palomba finally bestowed a tangible form upon Nonno Raffaele's lifelong dream: a wine born of Pompeii, painstakingly crafted from indigenous grapes nurtured by their devoted family.

During the inaugural vintage of 2014, Bosco De’ Medici produced a modest 8,000 bottles. Since then, their production has ascended steadily, reaching an impressive 28,000 bottles with the bountiful harvest of 2019.
