Dubai: Visit the Old Town and have Lunch with the Locals!

What you'll do

We invite you to discover the importance of the past and social values for the local community in a unique circuit that we have created especially for you. A window through which to look and understand the daily life of the inhabitants ; the historical district of Al Shindaga. We will begin our visit here, these are the first foundations that created Dubai today, in the 1800s. At this very moment the royal family Al Maktoum has built a house here and we will visit this place with the house of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum which is the center of this district, and a fine example of traditional architecture. It was the residence of Sheikh Saeed, the grandfather of the current head of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He was born here and spent the first 10 years of his life playing and running in the courtyard flanked by the 30 rooms. You will discover the history of the leaders of the emirate, how their days were organized and what their plans and dreams were for Dubai. Also in the historical district of Al Shindaga, we will visit a weaving and pottery workshop as well as the coffee museum , here you will know the history of this magical drink and you will have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Arabic coffee. We will then cross with the traditional Abra - wooden boat, typical taxi of the Dubai Natural Canal - the Dubai Creek. This historic site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dubai Creek, 14.4kmlong, divides the city into two districts: Bur Dubai and Deira. We will stop at Deira which was once the epic mall, to visit the two main markets: the spice souk and the gold souk. Dubai's famous souks are probably the most representative emblem of Arabia. Since time immemorial, traders from neighboring countries have travelled by sea to bring their goods here. Gold, perfumes, textiles, spices, and more are here. You will have free time to visit and shop in the spice market with strong Indian and Persian influences and in the gold market which houses one of the largest collections of gold and jewelry in the world, at excellent prices. Here you will have free time to go shopping. Then we will end up in Sheikh Mohammed for the Understanding of Culture (SMCCU) in Al Fahidi's historical district is where you will find valuable information about UAE culture through a lunch with an Emirati national ! Sit on the embroidered Bedouin-style rugs, sample a selection of traditional dishes and the host will answer all your questions in their own way!
