Building of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova

It was built in 1984–1987, the authors of the project were architects Yuri Tumanyan, A. Zaleman and V. Yavorsky. From the very beginning, conceived as an administrative building to house the Supreme Council of the Moldavian SSR, this building was prepared in the early 90s of the twentieth century without significant changes to house the Presidium of the Republic of Moldova.

Transfiguration Cathedral (1898-1902)

This is an architectural monument of national importance, included in the register of historical and cultural monuments of the municipality of Chisinau. The former chapel “Holy Emperors Constantine and Helena” of the gymnasium No. 2 for boys (in the interwar period - the military gymnasium “Mihai Vityazul”), was built in 1898-1902 under the leadership of the diocesan architect Michael Serocinski.

In the shape of a Greek cross with four pillars on which rests the round drum of the dome. The exterior is decorated in the spirit of Byzantine-Russian style. In front of the entrance there is a porch with strong columns. During the Soviet period, this church was used for a long time as a planetarium.

At the end of the 19th century, the mayor of the city, Karl Schmidt, initiated the construction of a new headquarters of the City Duma (town hall) on the site of the fire station. The design was entrusted to the then city architect Mitrofan Elladi. Under the strict leadership of the famous architect Alexandru Bernardazzi, construction was finally completed in 1902.
