First you will head to Central Market Hall. There is a huge variety of produce, including typically Hungarian: fresh vegetables and fruit, sausages, meat, spices, pastries, bread, cheese. The upper floor has some restaurants. Here you will try delicious Hungarian sausage, some veggies and a national dish. It will be difficult for you to choose, as sausages may be boiled, fresh, dried, smoked, with different spices and flavours. The most famous sausages have their own name, and your guide will share this information with you.

    You will head to your next stop and pass by the Jewish Quarter. This small neighbourhood is a good place to explore lovely narrow streets, restaurants, cafes and markets.     Then you will pass by Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park, which is located not far from the synagogue. At least 400,000 Hungarian Jews were murdered by the Nazis in Budapest. Observe the weeping willow sculpture, which is mind-boggling and extremely emotional. This wonderful work of art is a very poignant reminder.

    Our next stop is the Small Boulevard. Actually, it is a colloquial name for three parts that are connected to each other. On both sides of the boulevard you will find multiple antique shops, especially rich in old books and artwork. Beyond it you will see the majestic Neo-Classical building of the Hungarian National Museum, which houses an outstanding collection of Hungarian history, arts, politics and folklore. Soak up the views! Now it’s time for the national dish Langos. If you try Langos once it will be very difficult to stop. It is made with soft dough that is usually shaped into rounds and fried until golden. Try it with garlic sauce, sour cream, cheese, or ask to mix all ingredients together. Langos is sometimes called Hungarian pizza. It is popular all year long.

    Then you will head to the Liberty Bridge (Szabadsag hid) to enjoy a coffee or lemonade in the coolest place in town. A chimney cake is also waiting for you. You will see how it is cooked, and then enjoy soft sweet delight. The first written record about chimney cake dates back to 1679, and the first recipe appears in a manuscript cookbook dated 1781. It is a cylindrical shaped bakery, usually baked over an open fire. It is coated with sugar and sometimes with vanilla or cinnamon. Chimney cake has a perfect crisp exterior and is soft inside, so try the most delicious dessert ever. You will be amazed at all you will experience on this authentic tour!
