Sintra, an illustrious city, holds the distinction of being recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site. Within its bounds lie captivating attractions, including the Palácio Nacional de Sintra. This remarkable palace served as a residence for both Moorish and Portuguese rulers over a span of nearly 1200 years, culminating in the late 19th century. Moreover, Sintra Natural Park, a sanctuary of extinct plant species, abounds with historical and natural wonders.
  • 2
Perched atop the Sintra Mountains, an ancient mediaeval castle evokes tales of a bygone era, dating back to the 9th century. Originally a stronghold of the Moors, it fell under the control of King Afonso Henriques, the founder of Portugal, in 1147. The castle's timeworn battlements stand as a testament to its military significance during the prolonged period of the Reconquista.
  • 3
In Romantic style, Quinta da Regaleira stands as an architectural testament, exuding Gothic influences through its ornate pinnacles, capitals, and eerie gargoyles. Within its magnificent grounds lie picturesque gardens teeming with lush vegetation, crystal-clear lakes, enchanting grottoes, and graceful fountains. Secrets from the ancient orders of the Templars and Rosicrucians lie concealed within enigmatic structures that dot the estate.

Founded in 1931, Adega Regional de Colares, the oldest cooperative winery in the region, plays a crucial social role in the municipality of Sintra, fostering ties with the majority of local wine producers. Today, it produces over half of the region's esteemed wine. The winery's grandeur is matched only by the vastness of its interior, where countless casks reside, creating an astonishing spectacle.
