    About Gelato Davide:
  • 4
Ice maker for three generations: Davide’s tradition traces back to the early 1930s when Mario’s great-grandfather fled the ravages of the Second World War and sought refuge in Frosinone. It was there that he laid the foundation for the family's legacy by establishing the first family dairy. Upon returning to Sorrento, Mr. Augusto Davide, Mario’s grandfather, carried forward the legacy of crafting artisanal cheese until 1956. Shortly after, the Davide family proudly inaugurated their first Gelateria in 1957, ensuring that the family's tradition remained alive and thriving under the meticulous care of Mrs. Mary, Mario's mother. Guided by a deep-rooted passion for the art of dairy, young Mario Gargiulo honed his skills in milk processing. He embarked on a journey to Australia, where he honed his craft working in various ice cream parlors, only to return to Italy to carry on the long-standing family tradition. After years of enriching experiences and venturing across different lands, Mario made the audacious decision to manifest his dreams by establishing his very own business.

The Realms of homemade ice cream - An exquisite voyage of Taste: In 2004, Mario Gargiulo acquired one of Sorrento's most beloved ice cream parlors. As the years passed, the gelateria flourished, evolving into a cherished establishment that beckons not only children and young adults but also the hearts of elderly couples. A rendezvous of indulgence, Mario's ice cream parlor offers a myriad of delights that tantalize the senses and ignite a fervent appreciation for the artistry behind each frozen creation. Gelato Davide specialities:

Pan David: The Pan David is one of the specialties of Gelateria David. It is produced with fresh eggs and milk mixed with sugar, and flour and naturally leavened. Pan David can be filled to your personal tastes with Nutella cream or fresh fruit. Pan David is produced at the moment and served warm with a dusting of icing sugar.
  • 7
Salty Gelato: Salty Gelato was born from one of the last trials of Mario Gargiulo. At the traditional Gelato receipt, made with fresh cream and milk, are added vegetables, cheese mixed with fruit, and much more. The last creations are gelato with tomato and basil; melon and ham, curry, parmesan cheese, and Sorrento's nuts. These mentioned are the famous flavours but at our Gelateria, you can enjoy many flavors.

The handmade gelato produced in our laboratory is made with cream and fresh milk. Gelato with fruit flavours is produced with fresh milk and seasonal fruit. In summer you will certainly find gelato in strawberry, peach, cherry, and melon flavour while in winter you can enjoy dried fruit flavors and “Sorrento lemons”. Among the most popular flavours there are the hazelnuts, produced with Giffoni hazelnuts, and the pistachio flavour, made with pistachios from Sicily. The production of Gelateria David is also designed for people who are lactose and gluten intolerant. In fact, at the Gelateria David are also available cones for celiac. The Gelato produced at our Gelateria is produced on daily bases to prevent the balance and the subsequent recycling.
