Itinerary

  • 1
Embark upon your stunning Provence tour by being picked up directly from your ship in Sanary sur Mer or Bandol Cruise Port. Meet your driver/guide who will provide you with an itinerary and take you to the pristine Provence Vineyards situated around Cassis & Bandol. Breathtaking panoramic vistas line the short drive where you will arrive near the captivating fishing port of Cassis, famous for its Calanques national park, exquisite beaches, and alluring port overlooked by a medieval chateau.

Mere words cannot do justice to the natural beauty of the Cassis Wine Producing region. Established as a Protected Appellation (AOP) in 1936, Cassis is one of the few local appellations composed of a single commune in the southern part of France. The village, of Ligurian origin, is blessed with 3,000 hours of annual sunshine, making it a perfect spot for gorgeous wines, culminating owing to the cool maritime winds. Experience the brilliant taste of local Cassis Wines, mainly composed of a majority of white wine that contains at least 80% Marsanne, adding beautiful aromatics and finesse. Clairette is also commonly added, complementing the body of Marsanne with fresh acidity. If you desire a bit of variety, rest assured, Cassis offers red wines and prominently cultivated rosé wines as well, comprising blends of Cinsault, Grenache, and Mourvèdre.
  • 3
After your wine tasting at Cassis, explore the cute small fishing port of Cassis, known for its calanques listed by Unesco as a world heritage national park. Bask in your free time for lunch, personal discovery, and relaxation on the beach. If time permits, you can board a motor boat for a 45-minute cruise (tickets not included) to admire the natural beauty of the local creeks (Calanques).
  • 4
Transitioning from Cassis, your next destination is Bandol. It is a popular coastal town and wine-growing region in the western part of Cote d'Azur. Your trip to Bandol will commence with wine tasting at a local vineyard. The Bandol vineyard lies in a natural amphitheater underneath the massif of Sainte Baume, culminating at 1,147 meters, with the vines planted on terraces over approximately 1,600 hectares. The range of wines produced in the area includes red wines, white wines, and rosé wines. Bandol's resolute red triumphs mainly because of the Mourvèdre variety, known as the king of the appellation, harmoniously combined with Grenache and Cinsault, the former bringing generosity to the wine and the latter giving it refinement.
  • 5
To explore the secret of Bandol, one must also taste its elegant white wines produced in very low quantities, such as Clairette, Ugni Blanc, and Bourboulenc. The gourmand rosé wines of Bandol are enchanting, with their roundness and generosity making them different from other rosé wines. Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Cinsault combine to give a well-structured, refined, pale-colored wine with delicate salmon hues. The end of your tour will allow you some free time for a walk around the harbor, with some lovely pastel-painted houses, in the center of the traditional village of Bandol.
  • 6
The Church Saint-Francois de Sales, situated at the top of the traditional Provencal square, called the Place de l'Europe, is one of the most important historic monuments in Bandol where the fountain, shady plane trees, and lively cafes combine with the view across the harbor, offering an ideal traditional Provencal experience.
  • 7
This private guided tour will enable you to taste the local wines and visit 2 domains. You will also have some free time in both villages of Cassis & Bandol, with your private guide highlighting the main attractions to explore. Your tour will seamlessly end with a ride back to your cruise ship.
